Seeee pretty bad lolol and I actually used the first three words of the last book, Prodigy.

2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
3. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
4. Pivot Point, also by Kasie West

Bout of Books Scavenger Hunt #boutofbookshunt

These are all my entries for the Bout of Books Scavenger Hunt, posted here: thebookmonsters.com/bout-books-scavenger-hunt/2

1. A Book that begins with “B”  (for Bout of Books!)

I chose Boy Meets Girl by Meg Cabot. I really love this book and it was the first book I saw that started with B and didn't have a "The" before it. It's apart of a trilogy companion thingy by Meg Cabot and it's the second one and my favorite out of all three. :)

2. A book that has been made into a movie/tv show

I chose what I'm currently reading during this read-a-thon, Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters. This was made into a movie that I'll be watching when I finish reading the book!

3. A series you love

So I chose the series/trilogy that got me into reading more, The Hunger Games. In 2012 I literally spent all my money buying the cast of THG's autographs. I have more posters and also have the movie dvd, and a mockingjay pin. So yeah, I love THG lol.

4. An anthology of poems or short stories

This is my dad's copy that is in the living room. I've read maybe four of Poe's short stories during school, maybe more I'm not sure but I've loved them all. :)

5. A book on your TBR shelf, or your full TBR shelves

Here is my recently developed TBR shelf. It's missing one Susan Colasanti book I lent out to my friend but yeah, here it is. :)

BookTube-A-Thon Reads!

Hi my name's Rebecca and I'm participating in the 2014 BookTube-A-Thon, hosted on YouTube.

Here's a link to the readathon's YouTube channel for more information: https://www.youtube.com/user/BookTubeAThon

Here I'm going to share my TBR pile for the readathon and then tomorrow hopefully I'll post my progress for today because this readathon just started, today!

There are challenges and I'll describe how I'm completing some of them in my TBR list.

1. I thought I was going to be able to finish Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness before the BooktTube-A-Thon started but I didn't so I play on finish it today, have 100 pages to go. This book doesn't really fit any of the challenges but I love this series so that's okay aha.

2. Next I want to pick up Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler, which completes the challenge of reading a book with red on it and the challenge of reading a book with pictures. I just realized Monsters of Men also completes the red challenge but I didn't start that book during this readathon so I'm not counting it lol.

3 & 4. So after Why We Broke Up, I'm not sure what order I'll be reading these other books in. But another challenge is to read a book with red on the cover and to start and finish a series. I chose a duology I've sort of had for a while, the Variant duology by Robinson Wells.

5. I'll be reading The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot. I'm going with this one as completing the challenge of reading a book someone else picked out for you. I was in the book section of my Salvation Army with my mom and I was looking for more Meg Cabot books and she found this one, so there. :) Also this book is told in e-mails and such so that'll hopefully be very quick to read. There is another Meg Cabot book, called Boy Meets Girl, which is told in the same way and it was a quick and great read.

6 & 7. Last I really hope but will most likely not happen, I wish to read the first two in the Percy Jackson series. I want to read these last so I can finish up the series after the readathon is over. This completes the challenge of read a book with a movie adaption, then watch that movie, and read a book with a genre you've read the least of this year. The genre is mythology/fantasy and which I've read the least of this year, not by much, but it is. Truthfully I've only really red 3 genres this year, contemporary, scfi/dystopian, and fantasy. I don't really want to read any other genres right now, or any time soon maybe, so fantasy is the least read for me.

And here are pictures of the books I'm going to read!:)

I discuss about me reading these books on my YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUCJdSdL4Qs , and it's MUCH different here. I really don't think I'll be able to finish these books, but plllleaaase wish me luck!!!! :)

Alienated by Melissa Landers was Released Yesterday

                                         Displaying Alienated-newcvr.jpg
ALIENATED Launch & NOOK Giveaway!

Hey, fiction lovers. I’m author Melissa Landers, and I’m thrilled to announce that my debut YA sci-fi romance, ALIENATED, is finally available from Disney-Hyperion! Cue the dancers and toss the confetti, because it’s been a long wait!

In a nutshell, ALIENATED is the story of valedictorian Cara Sweeney, who gets more than she bargained for when she agrees to host the nation’s first intergalactic exchange student, the gorgeous but emotionally-stilted Aelyx (pronounced A-licks) from planet L’eihr. The tone is light and humorous, but I explore some deeper themes as well.

What do reviewers have to say?

“The storyline is out of this world and character development paired with authentic voice is superb. Filled with intrigue and suspense, this book will appeal to both sci-fi and contemporary YA fiction fans.” –VOYA

“Interstellar relations heat up in this start to a new romantic science fiction series. Landers [explores] larger social, ecological, and ethical issues in this tense, fast-paced read.” –Booklist

“The perfect blend of sizzling romance, action, and suspense.” –#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout

“Smart, funny, and epic. I am now awaiting contact from planet L’eihr.” Julie Cross, bestselling author of Tempest.

“Intergalactic exchange students? Yes, please! I fell in love with this story and couldn’t put it down.” Jodi Meadows, author of Incarnate.

If you like hot, swoony science fiction as much as I do, I hope you’ll give ALIENATED a try. It’s now available in stores and online.

Barnes & Noble: http://bit.ly/1dZqtBI
Book Depo (free international shipping): http://bit.ly/1hzxOfs

Now for the fine print: This giveaway is open to US residents only. (Sorry, international friends, but you need a US billing address to buy digital content on the Nook.) Due to sweepstakes laws, entrants must be 18 years or older to participate.

Best of luck, and happy reading!

Progress for Bout of Books read-a-thon 9.0! Days 1-5

It's currently three hours into day 6 of the read-a-thon and I'm here to tell you what I have achieved reading wise so far.

I finished Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and just finished If I Stay by Gayle Forman! That's about (not entirely sure because I read some of Fangirl prior to this read-a-thon) 524 pages read so far. I made my dad drive me to bookstore not so near us last night (day 4) to get If I Stay's sequel, Where She Went. It is right here next to me and I will start reading today (day 6) and WILL finish it before this read-a-thon ends! I just moved houses so I'm gonna be busy unpacking but definitely will finish this book by Sunday.

I don't think my books from bookoutlet are going to even come in by Sunday so even if I do finish Where She Went before the very last second of this read-a-thon, I don't really own anything I want to read quite yet. I have quite a few books I want to read but they're all the first in a series and I want to read more standalone's and sequles before I get into series. So that is what I've done so far in the Bout of Books read-a-thon 9.0! :) It's been sooo much fun and I've gotten more reading done than I normally would!

Bout of Books 9.0: Introduce Someone to Your Favorite Genre

BoB9.0-200x200
Bout of Books is a great way to interact with new bloggers so I thought it would be a fun chance for us each to introduce other bloggers to a genre we love. For this challenge, pick a book or a few books that you think would make a great introduction to your genre of choice. Leave the answer or a link to your post where you answered in a comment to be entered in the giveaway. The winner will get to pick any of the books someone recommended for the challenge to be sent to them from Amazon or The Book Depository. The giveaway is open to people anywhere Amazon or The Book Depository deliver and will close tonight at midnight CST.

One of my favorite genres is dystopian and I think one of the first dystopian series a person should read is  The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. It's the first dystopian trilogy/series I read . :) Divergent by Veronica Roth is really good but I don't really recommend it because it has a very heartbreaking ending. :(

Bout of Books read-a-thon 9.0!

I'm going to be participating in the Bout of Books read-a-thon 9.0! Here's what it's about and then my goals for it:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team.

My goals, aka what I plan to read during the read-a-thon, are as following: (I think I used that term right :////)

  1. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (read about 145 of 433 prior to read-a-thon)
  2. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
  3. Where She Went by Gayle Forman
  4. When You Reach Me by Rebecca (hey same first name) Stead

The last three all have pretty vague titles I noticed ahah.

I just ordered When You Reach Me so if it decides to come in on time I'll read it but I might not even be done with the first three but I will try!
